Integral membrane proteins constitute nearly ~30% of the human proteome, and are essential to cell physiology as receptors and transporters of solutes. Our research aims at understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the function and pharmacology of membrane proteins that are important to human health and disease, with a focus on membrane transporters.
To this aim, we use a multidisciplinary approach to dissect structural, energetic and dynamic components of the function and pharmacology of membrane proteins, including x-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, and fluorescence spectroscopy.
